Talk Magazine Shuts Up

tiny brain
Tiny Brain with her husband Harold Evans (right) and Talk publisher Ron Galotti.
NEW YORK — Miramax and Hearst Corporation have put the final gag on Talk magazine, which has ceased operations.

Tina Brown, the failing editor, blamed the advertising slump after September 11 for the silence. But Talk never made money nor had anything to say. Having a loud mouth and being a vulgarian gets you only so far (success at Tatler and Vanity Fair, but not The New Yorker or Talk).

Critics say that Brown's husband Harold Evans, former editor of the London Times, used to redesign the Vanity Fair layouts that Tiny took home to "work on."
